About the role

We are hiring a Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our Modis business (a division of The Adecco Group). This HR Director role will collaborate with our Modis Corporate Leadership Team to ensure a solid Canadian operation, while supporting all business units in the midst of a global transformation and a rebranding to our new joint brand, Akkodis! This hands-on position is responsible for developing and maintaining the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. The successful candidate will oversee a wide range of HR activities including a focus on employee relations, health & safety, organizational development, performance management, projects, talent management, and training. As well, this role will partner with our corporate recruitment, compensation, and payroll teams. You will act as a business partner to collaborate and provide guidance and advice to both management and colleagues on human resources best practices and related matters.

What you’ll be doing
  • Developing and implementing strategic HR goals that align with the direction and vision of the business
  • Coaching and development of HR Coordinators and/or Generalists
  • Engaging as a strategic advisor in all aspects of HR, planning, organization design, performance management, resource planning and leadership development
  • Maintaining consistent actions across the organization by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing human resource policies and procedures
  • Keeping the organization in compliance with legislation and laws by identifying and enforcing legal requirements and assisting in the development of HR policies
  • Improving employee satisfaction by identifying and responding to concerns; developing morale-building programs
  • Participating, as part of Management, in meetings intended to review, resolve, develop and improve all aspects of day-to-day operations issues and interdepartmental relationships
  • Identifying, creating and implementing changes to enhance organizational effectiveness, establishing human resource objectives that are in line with organizational objectives
  • Works in tandem with Corporate Adecco Colleague Payroll Administrator to manage new colleague hire set ups or changes
  • Participating in company salary range reviews and assisting with maintenance of internal equitable compensation and competitiveness within external regional markets
  • Managing company-initiated terminations, consulting with Legal Counsel (if necessary) to discuss details and recommendations
  • Counselling and coaching employees on policies, programs and procedures; providing solutions on handling and resolving employee issues
  • In conjunction with the Adecco Talent Team, maintain the annual performance process, as well as the performance management process and cascade training and communications as appropriate
  • Assisting managers with the development of job descriptions and collaborating with the Recruitment team in the hiring and selection process
  • Updating and tracking all reporting relevant to hiring approvals, headcount and employment trends
  • Conducting Colleague Surveys, interpreting results on a regular basis and updating relevant reporting
  • Assisting with establishing and maintaining an Employment Equity program for Modis Canada, and managing, training and participating in Diversity, Inclusion or Outreach Partnerships to ensure compliance
  • Working in tandem with the Corporate Adecco Benefit Administrator to: coordinate and conduct benefit orientations, manage benefits program, process short-term and long-term disability cases and work with third party providers to process claims
  • Contributing to design discussions and participating in implementations for changes to HRIS system changes, upgrades, and/or HR processes
  • Working with managers to identify individual development plans, career paths and succession plans
  • Leading the Health & Safety National Committee and ensuring compliance with H&S provincial legislative requirements in the field; assisting with creation and delivery of health and safety training, tracking, reporting and policies to satisfy compliance requirements
  • Preparing, monitoring and tracking workplace illness/injuries/ergonomics and reporting to appropriate provincial boards where required
  • Overseeing the tracking of all required colleague human resources HRIS changes, regular attendance and absence reporting, compliance with internal corporate time off policies and legislated vacation requirements
  • Assisting with internal Communications related to Wellness, Benefits, Policies or Processes
About you

We want to set you up for success! To help us do that, here is what we are looking for from you: 

  • A minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of prior experience in HR generalist duties
  • Completion of Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related field; CHRP designation (or working towards) preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience and ability to lead, influence and motivate in complex matrix organizations
  • Ability to diagnose and successfully handle complex employee relations and organizational development issues
  • Maintain confidence and exercise good judgment
  • Develop effective relationships and gain credibility across all levels of the organization for all Canadian business units
  • Maintaining awareness and knowledge of applicable Canadian HR employment standards, legislation, best practices and principles; providing suitable interpretation and recommending different courses of action to Management
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs
  • Bilingualism (French/English) would be an asset
